Beehive 2 Farm Motif Daguerreotype CasePristine 1/6 plate daguerreotype case entitled beehive 2, farm motif as identified in paul berg as 1-91. It is the version of the case that has the frame line in the outre border not present in another version (1-90). The relief of hte engraving is exceptional on both sides. Flat area surrounding raised portion of engravign is without mars or scratches of any kind. Corners of case are sharp, without chips and have not been repaired. Hinges are perfect and case snpas tightly together. Coloring of case is black. Velvet pad is is in good to excellent shape with no fading. The gold mats are in excellent shape with no discoloration. The daguerreotype image is charming. Subject is a handsome youthful man with a serious, but not dour expression. He is wearing a large period bow tie. The condition of the image si excellent! Generally mirror-like in quality with only the slightest hallations that can be seen upon scrutiny near the bottom of image and right side where image meets mat. This pairing of case and image wold be a wonderful addition to any collector's treasures. |
